Rodney Place, born on April 7, 1952, in Johannesburg, is a multidisciplinary artist whose career spans various forms of expression, including scenography in theatre productions. Educated at the Architectural Association School in London from 1972 to 1978, Place has lived in the United States across the North, South, East, and West before returning to Johannesburg in 1996. His work, which has been showcased in significant exhibitions such as ‘Africa Remix’ and the Venice Biennale of 2003, explores themes utilizing a variety of mediums. Place continues to live and pursue his painting career in Malindi, Kenya, showcasing his versatility and dedication to art in both South Africa and abroad.
