Tracey Rose, born in 1974 in South Africa, is known for her performative art which often includes photography, video, installation, and digital prints.  

Tracey Rose pursued her B.A. in Fine Arts at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, graduating in 1996. She taught at the University of the Witwatersrand and Vaal Triangle Technikon in Vanderbijl Park, South Africa.

Rose's education and career have taken her around the world, participating in notable exhibitions and residencies. Her impactful art has been featured in major venues like the Venice Biennale and Documenta14. From February to March 2001, Rose served as artist-in-residence at the South African National Gallery in Cape Town, where she developed her work for the Venice Biennale 2001 exhibition curated by Harald Szeemann.
