Mestre Paulo Kapela, born in 1947 in Uige, Angola, is a self-taught artist known for his painting, collage, and installations. He enrolled at the Poto-Poto School of Painting in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, in the early 1960s. Kapela's work, recognized for its complex pieces blending his migration story and Angola’s political landscape, has been showcased in numerous group exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale.
His art experiments with various techniques and media, reflecting his unique artistic and spiritual influence on contemporary Angolan art.
