Omar D is a self-taught photographer who resides and works in both Paris, France and Algiers, Algeria. Due to the political climate in Algeria, he was unable to pursue his aspiration of becoming a journalist and instead trained as an ophthalmologist. Despite this, he continued to capture daily life in Algeria through photography but did not display or publish his work. Starting in 1999, he began publishing and exhibiting his photographs under the pseudonym Omar D.
