In 1978, he was born in Luanda, Angola, where he currently resides and creates his artwork. He completed his studies in 1999 at the Professional School of Image (EPI) in Lisbon, Portugal.

N'Dilo Mutima is a photographer whose work offers insights into themes of loss through sparsely populated landscapes and muted colors, reflecting the recovery of a country from almost three decades of civil war. His photographs have been showcased in exhibitions across Europe, Africa, and Asia, including the Luanda Triennial and the African Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2007 .
