Meschac Gaba, a conceptual artist from Benin, was born in 1961 and is currently based in Rotterdam and Cotonou.

Gaba is most recognized for his 12-room installation titled "The Museum of Contemporary African Art 1997-2002," which is autobiographical in nature and was acquired and showcased by the Tate Modern in 2013. He has also exhibited his work at the Studio Museum in Harlem and the 2003 Venice Biennale.
