Residing and working in both Maputo and Harare, Zimbabwe, Luís Pedro Basto draws inspiration for his photography from other renowned photographers in Mozambique, including Ricardo Rangel.

Basto taught himself the art of developing black-and-white photographs and Cibachromes and repaired his father's darkroom, which serves as a source of inspiration for his work. He previously worked as a still photographer on various film sets and has since become a freelance photographer, painter, and sculptor.
